Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Public Interactive’s own Debra May Hughes and Phil Johnson were interviewed in the latest issue of Current about the SoundExchange webcasting royalty deal between public broadcasting and the recording industry, and what it means to local pubcasters.

Haven’t read it yet?  Here’s your chance.

Angst in studios over webcasting pact
Pubcasters got lower royalties, but they’re stressed over reporting rules .

PRPD: Eliminate SoundExchange Stress w/ Dr. Phil and Friends

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Suffering from online music reporting stress? Attend our PRPD roundtable discussion on music rights and SoundExchange (SX) reporting. Phil Johnson (aka: Dr. Phil) reports on how we’re doing, reporting requirements, what you need to know about the upcoming Q3 deadline and an exclusive first look at reporting tools coming to your station. Panelists will provide history and details behind the agreement and a primer on internet music rights and royalties. After a brief presentation we open the session to questions on the complicated and evolving world of music rights and responsibilities in new media. Alleviate reporting stress and ask questions about what is and is not allowed for streaming.

SoundExchange Reporting - Getting Started

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

As you may know, CPB has selected us to take on the central role in collecting and reporting public radio music streaming information to the SoundExchange.  To help you get started, we’ll send informative emails, host a series of webinars and speak at the major conferences, starting with the PRDMC. If you have reporting questions, please contact Phil Johnson, our SoundExchange manager, phil@publicinteractive.com, 617-423-4499 x138.

Stations that use both Public Interactive Composer and our live streaming services will not need to do anything beyond registering with the CPB and PI! Stations that do not use PI’s Composer or streaming services will just need to upload streaming usage or playlist log files to us.

If you’re interested in learning more about our Composer or live streaming services, please contact me or Joe Orlando at 617-423-4499 x123, moreinfo@publicinteractive.com
